This is al-Qaeda

Just read Michael Yon today, send him money and remember who these fucks are.

And congratulations to the 5th Iraqi Division.

Captain Clayton Combs has been fighting hard in Diyala for about ten months, much of it side-by-side with Iraqi soldiers from the 5th Division. Each time I’ve come into contact with the 5th, they seem far better than most. American officers and sergeants who work with the 5th have good things to report about them, saying that although the 5th still has far to go, and cannot sustain itself logistically, it can fight.

Captain Combs said this particular Iraqi unit, the 3-25, has never run away from combat, and never refused to close on the enemy. Combs said, “I’ve fought with 3-25 for 10 months in Diyala and they have always come when I am in trouble. They always go on patrols when I ask. They never back down.”

  2. Comparison’s of Michael Yon to Ernie Pyle are spot on, as they would also be to “Dickey” Chappelle, America’s first female reporter to die on the battlefield, where she died with the Marines she wrote about and loved in Vietnam.

Our current news media is so utterly inept as to be incapable of any analysis of events in Iraq. “Reporting” American deaths as the only piece of information on the insurgency in Iraq while Paris Hilton, Ana Nicole Smith, and the like are analyzed by legions of reporters, many actual lawyers, shows their incompetence. I only wish we had more thoughtful, honest, and fearless reporters as Yon instead of the current “bubbleheaded beach blondes on at 5 O’clock” as we do today

  3. Yes, Michael Yon is great.
I’m not sure I would call news anchors bubble headed or beach blondes…..the statement is a bit too typecast for me. But then I tend to have the “look” of the frumpy middle aged school marm, when in actually I’m a biker chick, cowgirl…..
“Looks” don’t mean a whole lot more than first impressions.

  4. I was channeling Don Henly’s song: The bubbleheaded beach blonde that comes on at five, she can talk about the plane crash with the gleam in her eye…
    we love dirty laundry!
