Obama and Iraq

I didn’t link to this column by Amir Taheri yesterday concerning Obama’s latest foray into current foreign policy vs future foreign policy because it was one columnist. One source. And it seemed impossible.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.

Who would DO that?

And today we have the denial.

Read the denial and tell me you’re convinced. I have to say, I’m not. Apparently Obama would “DO that.”

UPDATE: Good Lord, he really DID recommend that Iraq wait until Bush is out of office!!
Here is the link that HotAir links to below in the comments. And here is what is said:

But Obama’s national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said Taheri’s article bore “as much resemblance to the truth as a McCain campaign commercial.”
In fact, Obama had told the Iraqis that they should not rush through a “Strategic Framework Agreement” governing the future of US forces until after President George W. Bush leaves office, she said.

What the hell else does that mean if not that he was working to delay this!!??

  1. I googled this after hearing it on Rush Limbaugh (because it was my first time listening to Rush and it was involuntary) and there were a lot of sources reporting on it……..
