This was a cool story out of the BBC today.
It talks about four plans that seem to be working to get marine protection areas in Fiji, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Solomon Islands created.
These protection areas (with local folks helping to do the protecting) have given rise to more fish as the current fish now have safe zones to re-produce.
In (so far) two of these sites, the locals have found dramatic increases in their hauls lately. (after 2-3 years)
AND tourism increased.
Excellent and good luck to the other 2 sites!!
