An Epiphany

Last night at Liberty on the Rocks, Flatirons we heard Mayor Mike Dunafon speak. I heard him on the radio a few weeks ago. His style is rough around the edges and there were a few things I disagreed with him on (sadly, I can’t remember and don’t have time for hard research right now).

Anyway, back to the epiphany. I don’t care. His first impulse, his very first impulse on all problems municipal, state, federal is NOT to make another law.
And that is enough.
From his page (the bold is mine)

Mike understands that the intellectual elites running the Democrats want to control your decisions because they know better than you, what is best for you and your family. Mike fundamentally rejects this idea and big government categorically, and believes that we need to reverse our current path toward socialism, by creating more liberty and less government.

On the other side of the spectrum, Mike also rejects the imposition of religious intolerance by segments within the Republican Party, specifically on the social issues of abortion and gay marriage. These matters can only be resolved by adopting public policy choices that promote liberty. Because his worldview puts liberty first, he supports gay marriage, and although he thinks abortion is terrible and should never be used for birth control, he is nonetheless firmly pro-choice.

Click here to like his Facebook page and maybe we can get a new governor.
