Risk Pools

Ah yes, all the men, gay people, Catholics, Muslims, post menopausal women, couples who’ve been “snipped”, and singles who don’t sleep around get to join the “risk” pool to cover the free contraception for the ladies who want it.

Risk being the risk of getting pregnant which is apparently the same as being sick.

Obama is currently rethinking the Catholic part (answer to be expected post next November).

Vaccine Numbers

Here in Colorado we can be proud that we are so progressive as to rate #2 in the nation of states who’s parents refuse to have their kids vaccinated.

Yes, it’s the progressives who opt out. Why? Per a poll in the Denver Post via John Galt commenting at Threesources.

“I don’t fully trust federal health agencies”

Aren’t these the people who WANT the federal government in charge of health care?
If you were in charge of the federal government’s health care program and vaccines helped save trillions in the long run, wouldn’t you require vaccines? And if these vaccines were refused wouldn’t your next step be to remove children from these homes for their own safety and the good of the country?

The progressive imagination is only about 1 inch long.

Things I don’t get about the “Right”

Why do rightwinged ranchers believe that upscale New Yorkers or start up companies in Florida need to pay taxes in order to kill coyotes and wolves to protect their livestock?

The work done by Wildlife Services is vitally important to our industry and others as well,” said Ken Wixom, who raises sheep and cattle near Blackfoot. “I’m sure all of us would be open to other ideas (to generate more funding).”
Brackett said the task force hopes to have something in place to present to the Idaho Legislature when it convenes in January.
Because of increased cattle losses due to wolf attacks, “money for predator control is a necessity and we need every bit of it and more,” said ICA Executive Vice President Wyatt Prescott.

In Venezuela when things gets hard, the government prints money. And when things then get harder the government orders price controls. And when that leads to stockpiles you get this:

“The law of supply and demand is a lie,” Karlin Granadillo, the head of a price control agency set up to enforce the new regulations, said yesterday on state television. “These are not arbitrary measures. They are necessary.”

If it’s a lie there, then it must be a lie everywhere. Start stockpiling now before the government does what is necessary!

Climate stuff

The 2nd round of leaked emails have been fun.

Humphrey’, said to work at Defra, writes: ‘I cannot overstate the HUGE amount of political interest in the project as a message that the government can give on climate change to help them tell their story.
‘They want their story to be a very strong one and don’t want to be made to look foolish.’
……….Yet one of the newly released emails, written by Prof. Jones – who is working with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) – said: ‘Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research grants we get – and has to be well hidden.
‘I’ve discussed this with the main funder (U.S. Dept of Energy) in the past and they are happy about not releasing the original station data.’
Climategate scientists DID collude with government officials to hide research that didn’t fit their apocalyptic global warming
5,000 leaked emails reveal scientists deleted evidence that cast doubt on claims climate change was man-made
Experts were under orders from US and UK officials to come up with a ‘strong message’
Critics claim: ‘The stink of intellectual corruption is overpowering’
Scientist asks, ‘What if they find that climate change is a natural fluctuation? They’ll kill us all’
In another of his emails, he wrote: ‘I’ve been told that Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is above national Freedom of Information Acts.
‘One way to cover yourself and all those working in AR5 would be to delete all emails at the end of the process.’

But this is hilarious….lost herd of 200,000 (200,000!) elk due to climate change have been found. Just where they’ve been.

Friday Funny because it’s Thanksgiving Eve

Jonah Goldberg on the debate last night:

Romney looks like the picture that comes with the frame. Gingrich looks like he should be ensconced in royal velvet as he gestures at you with a half-eaten turkey leg in one hand and a sloshing goblet of wine in the other.

Romney seems terrified of fully committing to any idea. Gingrich speaks as if he just text-messaged with God.

Did anyone really think the supercommittee was going to succeed in agreeing to something?

And does anyone really think that automatic spending cuts, (which will never really happen) which are really automatic lower spending increases, will be the end of the world?

And finally does anyone really think any of this is going to get us out of the woods of 15 Trillion dollars in debt, no actual budget, no thought to entitlement changes and no grownups willing to take the hit and make the populace suck it up and live with less?

Yeah – I didn’t think so.

UPDATE: John Podhoretz didn’t think so either.

The supercommittee triumphed in accomplishing what it was truly intended to accomplish.

It was created to kick the can down the road.

I think he gets this wrong though:

The notion of staging a revolt against runaway government spending by challenging a debt-ceiling hike was the dumbest to emerge from the right since the confrontation that led to the 1995 government shutdown. It won’t be tried again, thank God.

If more teapartiers get elected next year, I think what you’ll see is the old ‘fool me once adage’ in practice. They will not be willing to bend even a little bit because they will remember where that got them this round.

Another Bill

That’s right, we need another bill because there are not yet enough laws in the universe to stop everything that is annoying to each of us.

In order to keep airline prices “down” in the face of fuel price increases, they decided to start charging for bags. Because of that, people try to carry on everything. Now, you want to be the first onboard or you don’t get a spot for your bag on board. How annoying is that?
Let’s make a new law!!!
We really don’t have enough yet.

Passengers also were annoyed by fellow travelers who try to carry on everything they have, with more than two-thirds telling the U.S. Travel Association in a survey that they were peeved with “people who bring too many carry-on bags through the security checkpoint.”

Tim Tebow

We all know the “if this were Bush” stories out there…….right?

I don’t follow sports very often, but knee jerk antiChristian stories get me riled so I started paying attention to the Tebow phenom to see how this guy would do. Was it antiChristian or was it that he was young/inexperienced and not that good.

Well, let me just say…..”if this were a Muslim football player” everyone would LOVE him. He’s clearly worth watching. What is everyone dissing him for if not his Christianity?

Here’s a couple of posts for you.
