Two Strategies: One Problem
The problem would be budgets, the economy, the coming depression, the actual recession, hell on earth, etc, etc.
The solutions:
For Japan: encourage childbirth
Japan in the midst of an unprecedented recession, so corporations are being asked to work toward fixing another major problem: the country’s low birthrate.
For Nancy Pelosi: encourage birth control
Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
While neither plan discourages um stimulus, the Nancy plan sure isn’t thinking about who’s going to pay for the trillion in new debt. From Anatreptic regarding the Nancy plan.
This is crass in so many ways that it’s dizzying. Apart from anything else, if it’s good policy to borrow trillions more from our children, isn’t it a good idea actually to have children?
Islamic Extremism
No, I don’t understand it. It portends to be about God and doing right by Him.
Yet, these people in Pakistan end up getting nightly announcements of what the new rules are and who gets to get punished because they didn’t follow the rules today.
Using a portable radio transmitter, a local Taliban leader, Shah Doran, on most nights outlines newly proscribed “un-Islamic” activities in Swat, like selling DVDs, watching cable television, singing and dancing, criticizing the Taliban, shaving beards and allowing girls to attend school. He also reveals names of people the Taliban have recently killed for violating their decrees — and those they plan to kill.
It’s Mordor like. Let’s see what made anyone smile today and then we’ll outlaw it tomorrow. New rules, every night?? What are they going to do if everyone ends up following all the rules for 24 hours? How is it that God can’t come up with all the rules at once?
It’s 2000 Taliban/extremists vs 1.3million people in this tribal area of Swat in Pakistan and terror is working.
“The local population is totally fed up, and if they had the chance they would lynch each and every Talib,” said Mr. Naveed Khan, the police official. “But the Taliban are so cruel and violent, no one will oppose them. If this is not stopped, it will spill into other areas of Pakistan.”
No one will oppose them. It’s like an entire region of wife beaters and the population (or wives) are too scared to do anything. Terror works because good people let it work.

Or rather taking money from anyone who pays taxes in order to cover the health care costs of children in families making greater than $100,000 per year through the famous SCHIP program.

Obama’s EPA doesn’t want a previously ok’d coal plant in SD.
Saying the state hadn’t met EPA requirements they are giving them 90 days to meet those requirements.
It’s not clear what those are, but this particular plant
would have carbon dioxide emissions 20 percent lower than similar plants, according to the proposed plant’s Web site.
Power in Germany
Apparently in Germany the Federal Environmental Agency can give orders.
Though in all seriousness I think it’s the reporter that’s confused. When quoting the guy we get:
“I recommend a return to Sunday roasts and an orientation on Mediterranean eating habits,” Andreas Troge, the head of the federal environmental agency UBA, told the daily Berliner Zeitung.
The War on Terror
Or as the Washington Post calls it “Bush’s War on Terror” comes to an end, but strangely Obama keeps fighting, in Pakistan.
Was Pakistan involved in 911? Just asking because I find it odd that the WAPO can declare war over. Is that to give Obama a fresh start?
