Skeptics Doubt US Evidence of Iran Action in Iraq

That’s the headline in the NY Times this morning. Is this a surprise?
I remember clearly before the war in Iraq when everyone was talking about the WMD that was definitely in Iraq, that that information was not necessarily true. If it was, then someone could have pointed the inspectors in that direction and the argument would have been done. But that never happened.
Now we have a new situation. But at the same time the President is ramping up his intelligence on Iranian govt involvement, others are saying to hold back because of the situation inside Iran.

Now, U.S. military officials say the decision to go public with the findings has been put on hold for several reasons, including concerns over the reaction from Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — as well as inevitable follow-up questions that would be raised over what the U.S. should do about it.

Exactly. World politics is a lot trickier than we the people can just vote on. Yet another reason why Hillary just won’t do. As Richard Cohen says

In Clinton’s case, she is dead center in American public opinion, foursquare for what’s popular and courageously opposed to what’s not. Most Americans oppose a precipitous pullout from Iraq and — surprise! — so does Clinton.

Too often when a candidate throws his hat into the ring, he tosses principle out the window. Yet this is precisely what we want in a president — principles and the courage to stick to them.

Amen!

Important News

For us nappers!

In the largest study of siestas and coronary deaths, researchers reported Monday that people who napped at least 30 minutes a day, three times a week, were 37 percent less likely to die from heart disease. Those who napped occasionally saw a 12 percent reduction.

“If you can have a nap without disturbing your working pattern or relationship with your boss, do have it,” said senior author Dr. Dimitrios Trichopoulos, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Trichopoulos said the risk reduction found in the study was similar to that associated with drugs commonly prescribed to reduce cardiovascular risk, such as statins. Plus, napping has no side effects.

Love that!

Osama bin Laden

Is he dead? Captain Ed has interesting news out of CNN. (dang, you quit reading a news source because they suck and look what happens…you get scooped!)

Anyway, the story is that Zawahiri has a new press release essentially suggesting that everyone pledge allegiance to Mullah Omar of the Taliban. Interesting. Bottom line though I hope, is that we all recognize that the Taliban are also the enemy. We all know that right?

Let’s be the generation that ends poverty in America. Every single person willing to work should be able to get job training that leads to a job, and earn a living wage that can pay the bills, and afford child care so their kids have a safe place to go when they work. Let’s do this.

And for those unwilling to continue school? Or search for a job? Or for those people who’s job it is to provide child care that’s affordable?
I’m sorry, but right now, every single person is given a chance for job training. There are tons of job training services out there at cost/below cost/no cost depending on your circumstances. Same goes for interviewing skills.

What more is he suggesting? That the government, have a person that will take you to this job training and then drive you to the interviews? And watch your children for you? Let’s get specific.
